Mission

????????One of AACTS’s most important roles is to characterize the CTE field through advocacy deeds, including media relations, direct lobbying, and public awareness. This work promotes CTE’s values and policies needed to support CTE practitioners, progress the field, and improve learning. However, it has little value without a strong and consistent grassroots voice. You are encouraged to use the information provided here to become an active champion for CTE!

AACTS Working for You!

  • AACTS Launches Update Project for NCES CTE Course Names and Descriptions
The national School Codes for Exchange of Data (SCED) system that has long been used to share student data and for research nationwide needs to be updated. The SCED program names and course descriptions for CTE courses needing revision will provide more accurate pictures of the national state of CTE when completed, and you can assist.
  • AACTS Advocacy Leads to Sustained Perkins Funding
Congress has passed a measure to provide funding for federal programs, like Perkins, for the beginning of Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 at just above current levels. Known as a Continuing Resolution (CR), the bill keeps funding on autopilot until March 27 and prevents a shutdown when the current fiscal year ends October 1. However, final decisions on levels of spending will be made before the money is disseminated to schools.
  • AACTS Releases Fact Sheet to Help Advocacy Efforts
If you need to illustrate the core value of CTE to an industry leader, parent, policymaker, or colleague, consider an AACTS fact sheet to make your case!
